A Fatal Encounter

On the plateau beside Yellow River and the mountain path
Like a God, you stood between heaven and earth
The ladies were all looking up to you
But I was the only one in your hot eyes

Our four eyes gazed at each other
With our hearts shivering like lightning
As swiftly as a falcon diving at a hare
The swallow nearby whispered, as if to say
You are just the two who are looking for each other

For years my soul was silent
I couldn’t enjoy myself to the full
Or even cry to my heart’s content
I thought my bonds to this world had been broken

“What are you doing here?” you asked
“Destiny guided me here,” I replied
The flowers were weeping and complaining
In both despair and ecstasy

The train started from the platform at dusk
With a desolate gasp
The gears of my destiny
Started to roll again

The setting sun disappeared little by little
Where would it go?
My tears fell down drop by drop
A long departure ahead
With mountains and rivers between us

At the Bank of Sanggan River

Wuding River --
The past name of Sanggan River
After entering the imperial capital
It became Yongding River
“Along the thousands of miles of Sanggan,
Only Zhuolu has become wealthy”
Heaven's arrangement has its own mystery

When the sun shone on Sanggan River
I came to the side of the River
To Hot Spring Village, the first village for land reform
In order to follow the footsteps of a heroine

Her deep feelings for the earth
And her keen attention to the epoch
Fulfilled her life
Mixed with heroism and desolation

Sanggan River –
The line of demarcation in her life
In front of the Ding Ling Memorial Hall
Locust and elm trees were closely entwined
Local folks called them “Love Trees”
They reminded me of the prophecy
Regarding the heroine of the Memorial Hall
“A flying moth will dart into fire until its death”

With dark night enshrouding for a long time
Heaven and earth, fields, villages and everything else
Were assimilated into boundless silence
The unruly soul of “Yesterday's Genteel Lady”
was still filled with deep loneliness and sadness

Aslikin Grassland

Aslikin
What a beautiful name
Flowers and plants are as plenty as stars
Littered with rose willows and white thorns
 Aslikin is actually
A mixture of Gobi Desert and the grassland
Hidden in the hinterland of Qaidam
Enshrouded with lovely and lyrical air
It is said that the geographical location of Qaidam
Is almost the center of the world

In the afterglow of the setting sun
Smoke curls up from the chimneys of white yurts
The aroma of buttered tea
gladdens the heart and refreshes the mind
The Long Tune flowing slowly
Is heart-breaking
This voice grows from Aslikin Grassland
The singer's name is Gobi

Three-year- old Ba Yin
has grown up freely
Like the wild grass on the plateau
Strong as a horse foal, happy like a bird
Quick-witted as a hare
His eyes are as clear as the mountain spring
Young Ba Yin
An elf of the Aslikin Grassland
Has taken root in my heart
As well as this plateau basin

Snowfield

Ice and snow,  ice and snow
Cover Keshkten boundlessly
Mount Mantuo glitters with a silver glow
As the crown belt of Mongolian Warriors
Ganger River
Looks like a white hada
Dalai Nur
Is as vast as the sea and the ocean

As “Big is beauty”
It is enough to conquer everything

On a galloping horse
Like a flash of lightning
A red rider of grace and poise
Flew past like an eagle
He ignited a fire in my heart
A raging fire

Temujin——
My previous life must have been
A horse you rode and controlled
Or the shepherdess of Ulan Butong
who served you milk tea before your battle
Or even a pretty lamb as a sacrifice to you
Your compassionate glance
Planted roots of love in me for thousands of years
Leave me boundless loneliness

Mongolian yurts
Look like pearls glittering the snow
I crawl in front of the tents
Reaching out for the eternal grace
Fierce snowstorm
Is my insane scream:
Khan, Genghis Khan!
Can you hear my crazy heartbeats?
Clouds of smoke under the horses' hoofs
Are just an eternal silent response

Jietai Temple

My yearning for Jietai Temple
Descended from Prince Gong
Aixinjueluo Yiyi
A most powerful man in the world
Fell from the peak of power
Like a lion with its teeth pulled out
He came to Jingxi,  as if in his sleep walk
To settle down in the greatest temple of China

As a son of the emperor, a powerful official and
A famous prince during three emperors
He attempted to save the Qing Dynasty from collapse
However brilliant his career used to be
parallel with how miserable it was then
He was profoundly aware that
The world was changeable and the laws were variable

Gardening and reading the precious scriptures
Under a blue lamp and a statue of ancient Buddha
Hearing the evening drum and the morning bell
After ten long years of such practice
The devil in him diminished while Buddha reigned
“Fame and gains are nothing but external things
Writings lasting forever are only vanity”
What a great enlightenment
Reading it is heart wrenching and devastating!

From the imperial court to the Temple
From reigning power to “my Buddha above everything”
Prince Gong had two hearts
One was bleeding and the other was tolerance

A noble soul
Is always coupled with suffering
The bell of  “the world's first altar” is melodious
Sounding the voice of Buddha:
Caution, Perseverance and Wisdom
