妈妈,我什么时候才能回到你身旁;

The Distant Mountains

I love to hear the Gaoqiang folksongs in Jile Bute*. 
Mother, when can I return to your side?
I’d like to go into the waves of voice of that man
to let my heavy arms and legs sway in that kind of sweetness

I will cross the crossroads, jump red lights
I will pay no heed to the police’s shouts
I will break those glass doors and glass windows into pieces
for they block my way
I won’t care of a flower cemented with blood
which will open in my yearning palms
I will select a shortest way
I will knock down those concrete-structured high buildings with my head
I will knock down the crowds
I won’t fear
those cold eyes falling on my wet back

I will jump over countless brick walls
run like the wind in the wilderness
I will get on the last bus to the mountains
although one of my feet will be pressed
by the door of the bus, numb

Sooner or later, I will stroke
the sleeping land full of tenderness under my feet
I will be stark-naked, like a new-born baby
in his mother’s arms
I will see each of my dreams
stretching a pair of beautiful hands
when duck falls on the roofs of the tile-roofed houses
which will drive those unknown sadness away
from my forehead
